This 16mm artists film documents the making and design of a wooden community pavilion on Kyrl's Quay, Cork for the collaborative art and architecture project TEST SITE. TEST SITE was co-created by artist Aoife Desmond and architect Ailbhe Cunningham in 2019 in response to the potential of the then derelict site. The distinctive Belfast Truss roof was made collaboratively with Meitheal Mara boatbuilders. This traditional building technique is found in the now collapsed former R.H. Parker & Sons sawmill located on Kyrl’s Street. Current and historical connections of craftsmanship, timber trading and river navigation connect Meitheal Mara on Crosses Green and Kyrl’s Quay. Spoken context is given by industrial archaeologist Colin Rynne and the Meitheal Mara workshop team.
